After Effects Tutorial: Handwriting Animation

I was always curious as to how animated writing went, so I looked at a tutorial on how it was done.

It’s recommend to use a script font, as so I did. After it was typed, I set a mask for it, and used the pen tool to go over the type. I made sure curve it correctly and try and connect it was much as I could, as the idea was to make it seems as if I was actually writing this.

Make sure to apply a mess with the stroke for the effect to cover the words, then set the mask effect to reveal original image, set the end to 0 at the start, choose where it should be set at 100 on the layer’s timeline, and you have your writing animation.

Final Result

This was a very fun and exciting new skill to learn, teaching me a whole new array of working with type and animation.
