After Effects Tutorial: Text Animation
Typography is a fun subject to get into, and I was fascinated by the idea of text animation, so I tried out a tutorial on it.
I started off with the word “WATTUP?” and expanded it’s track (space in a word), then going into the effects panel, I grabbed ‘Drop In By Character” and this allowed the words to drop in from the top, over time.
Next is the offset. Make sure the opacity is 0 to begin with, and the offset goes from 0 to 100 at start and end point. Also, make sure the ‘Anchor Point Grouping’ is set to ‘Word’. This allows a fade in and out for the words.
Next up is the tracking, where the letters can distance from one another. Have it so that that tracking is timed at the start, and at a point at the end. Then at the end, set the track to how long you want it, then you are done. The letter should drop in, fade and track.
Overall, very happy about it, and was a very inspiring and strong task to experiment in.
